"Fury over the thames" - aviation art by Simon Cattlin

£495.00

The Hawker Fury first flew on March 25th 1931 from Brooklands with George Bulman at the controls. The Fury was the RAF's first 200 MPH Fighter and was a delightful plane to fly with light and well balanced controls. It represented one of the last bi-plane frontline fighter designs and the Fury II served as the test airframe for the new RR Merlin, The Hawker Hurricane was a direct descendant of a prototype mono-plane version of the Fury.

The painting is an early 1930's scene as a low flying flying Fury follows the line of the Thames to the south of Henley ( an area I know well from the air ), two locals look up to wave at the pretty silver bi-plane as it passes overhead.

This painting was completed in 1992, no prints were produced. Original oil panting

SOLD.

The original image file is low quality - the painting is sharp and detailed.
