Lunar dawn

“Lunar dawn” has us standing on a dusty plain in a lunar sea area looking at the near distant rocky peaks as the sun rises highlighting the sunward surfaces. Earth is a sunlit crescent above the lunar horizon.

Only 10 men have stood on the moon to experience an earth-rise and sunrise from the Apollo missions 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The last human to see this live would have been Captain Eugene Cernan in December 1972.

Original oil on 4cm box canvas, image size 76cm x 51cm. Signed by the artist.
