Touchdown depicts a NOVA class explorer shuttle touching down on a distant planet. The landing cycle has been engaged and the main engines have been tilted down, balanced with the forward thruster, to lower the craft vertically on to the surface with the landing struts extended. Clouds of fine dust are being lifted into the thin atmosphere and the scene is lit by the local star and from the background light of the galactic plane.

I designed the ship for Bakken Books new “Space Bound” children series and wanted to see how it would look in a full sized oil original composition. I’m pleased with the design and it works well as a coherent vessel within the envisioned environment.
